My goal for the second semester is to implement at least two PGW activities into math classes. For AVID, my goal is to prep my students for SAT/ACT in the Spring and to have them research, discuss, write, apply, and present their service learning project. (I hope it works the way I have imagined it in my mind). In my Instructional Coaching role, my goal to work with the new math teacher at my site, observe 2 different classes per week, and do a lesson study or learning walk once every two weeks. Lastly, my other leadership roles include recruitment for AVID, field trip planning, and support new site teachers at my school.
Overall, as we start break today, reviewing my goal list appears daunting, but I know that if I can do it, the results will be amazing. This past semester had lots of changes from my work life and my personal life. I have learned to embrace that my identity is the same in school and out of school and it's been great to see current and past students (still awkward, though). The changes have been a struggle, but dealing with them and enduring what may come is part of being an adult. I have regrouped myself, and focusing more on me. Also, thank you to the students who gave me presents this year. I wasn't expecting any of them, so I was pleasantly surprised.
For my students this winter break, I hope you all sleep. I hope you embrace your time off, whether you are doing nothing or constantly busy. Do something productive that entertain your mind, don't become complacent and lazy. Enjoy whatever and wherever your holidays will take you, and love the small things that you can't buy. Even if you don't receive what you want, when you become old like me, you can buy whatever you want then! And if the holidays are not as joyous, it will be okay (eventually).
Happy Holidays!
