It is March Madness, literally in NCAA, but the long trail till the end of the school year. We have finished 75% of the year, and spring break is weeks away. Have I met my goals this quarter, unfortunately, I have not. Have I added on more, of course, I did.
As we get through the last 10 weeks, trying to have all to-do list items has been a challenge. But I hit a road bump with my classes. It is tough when I can't control what happens outside of school. As much as I plan ahead, set goals, and look forward to the future; I was reminded that the life of my students can be turned upside down. It was a challenge to see my students struggling with the idea of saying goodbye and to see my student unaware of other people's problems. In this job, I always have to remember that my role is not only a teacher who teaches math, but I have to be an advisor, support counselor, parental traits, and adult. My emotions have been on a Richter scale beyond its charts. As I invest more years into this profession, I am more emotionally involved with my students to see them become successful, to become better people, and to ensure they are mentally and emotionally capable of the world that will engulf them. March Madness indeed. |
